Buffalo Mountain Lodge

Lake Louise, Banff, and the British Columbia Canadian Rockies—these evocative words couldn’t be more melodious to the lover of the outdoors if Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald crooned them. Well, I’ve added Buffalo Mountain Lodge to that tuneful list.

Buffalo Mountain Lodge—doesn’t that have a nice ring to it? Buffalo Mountain Lodge is a classic Canadian Ski Lodge with old craftsman charm but that offers all the modern amenities including cozy rooms, excellent food, an outdoor hot tub and easily accessible natural hot springs for après-ski unwinding.

But the Canadian Rocky terrain and scenery is what trumps it all. Buffalo Mountain Lodge is nestled in the more secluded area of Lake Louise on the slopes of Tunnel Mountain known as “Sleeping Buffalo” by the First Nations people.

One senses immediately that Buffalo Mountain Lodge and the surrounding scenery of Lake Louise is a place of peace and renewal. It is a place that for centuries has meant a deep connection to, and celebration of, the powerful and spiritual forces of nature.

And while being restored spiritually why not enjoy a physical revitalization as well at Buffalo Mountain Lodge? Apart from being a great starting point to ski the Canadian Rockies, Buffalo Mountain Lodge has it all—a lounge with the huge fireplace and crackling and aromatic fire, an outdoor hot tub, a fitness room and sauna, as well as, two in-house restaurants. All those amenities make for a pleasurable and restorative experience.

The rooms at Buffalo Mountain Lodge are clean, spacious and well appointed. Many include fireplaces and kitchens, and come complete with intriguing antique touches such as claw foot tubs.

Buffalo Mountain Lodge, near Banff, in the Canadian Rockies. I could just sing about it!

Trip Advisers Reviews:

Excellent once again–This is our second time staying at the Buffalo Mountain Lodge. Our room was quite large complete with fireplace, kitchen and dining table, and of course the claw foot tub! As with other Canadian Rocky Mountain Resort properties, no one should miss eating at their establishments. This time we went to Cilantro. The food and service was amazing (get the Gnocchi) and the restaurant itself was cozy and inviting. Highly recommended.

Best accommodation on our whole trip–This was our first lodge in Canada at the start of a 3 week tour. We had a Premier King Room and it was fantastic. The lodge was immaculate, very comfortable, extremely spacious and well appointed. There was even an open fire in the room with a stack of logs outside the door. Town is only 3-4 mins drive down the road, or 20 mins if you walk it. My only criticism was that we were only there for 3 nights and we loved Banff and the area so much, we’d wished we had at least one extra night.

Features:

·       Lounge with huge fieldstone fireplace

·       Outdoor hot tub

·       Fitness room and dry sauna

·       The Cilanto and Sleeping Buffalo Restaurant
